For the love of a son review

"Shocking, candid...sad,sobering and compassionate"- San Francisco Chronicle

"One Afghan woman's quest for her stolen child"

Jean Sasson is one among my favorite authors. I was very much captivated by the first book i read of hers, which i would be posting under the Suggestion Tab soon.' For the love of a son', publishes in 2010, is the true story of a very bold and courageous woman, Maryam Khail, who had always fought for the right of women and also rebelled against the brutal treatment of women in Afghanistan. Jean Sasson takes us throughout Maryam's life, her childhood, teenage, her violent marital relationship, her tearful separation from her son and much more. Even more she provides us an insight into the history of Afghanistan's Politics and also how the Russian invasion has affected the country and its people. This book is absolutely page-turning mainly towards the end.
